CREATIVITY: The Return

The Walls We Build

Once, there were no walls.
Once, there was only the world, vast and unbroken, and you—wide-eyed, weightless, touching everything without hesitation.

You reached, and the world reached back. You sang, and the air carried your voice.
You played, and nothing asked to be perfect.

But the walls came, slow and quiet.
Not all at once. Not with force.

A word here, a warning there. A lesson in caution. A lesson in control.
The careful shaping of a self that fits, that follows, that does not stray too far.

And the world, once open, became divided. Safe and unsafe. Right and wrong. Possible and impossible.

So we learned to stay within the lines. To build the walls higher. To call them maturity. To call them reason. To forget there was ever anything else.

The Knock at the Door

But something knocks. Softly at first. Then louder.

A whisper in the quiet. A pull toward something unseen.
A longing you cannot name.

You ignore it, at first. You tell yourself it is nothing.

But it comes again… tickling the gap.

It comes in the stillness between thoughts.
It comes in the pause before sleep. It comes when the wind moves through the trees just so, and for a moment—just a moment—you remember.

Something inside you stirs.

The Unraveling

To create is to remember. To remember is to begin again.

But it is not an easy thing to take down walls. They have stood for so long. They have kept you safe.

Or so they say.

Creativity does not demand destruction. It does not ask for fire or force.

It asks only for a crack. A single opening where light can slip through. A door left ajar. A breath drawn deep. A step—just one—into the unknown.

And the moment you take it, the world begins to shift. The walls tremble, their edges soften.
The air is different here.
You are different here.

Not new. Not changed. But returned.

The Choice

Creativity is not a gift. It is not for the chosen, the talented, the few.

It is for the ones who listen.
For the ones who dare to step beyond what they know.
For the ones who will not ignore the knocking at the door. For the ones who are curious with “what ifs”.

And so, ask yourself:

  • Am I moving, or am I only circling?

  • Am I seeing, or am I only perceiving what I expect to see?

  • Am I alive, or am I only repeating the motions of the living?

Creativity is not something you find. It is something you uncover.
It is the place where you have always belonged!

It is the curious playground you have abandoned, buried under the calcified walls!

It is the return.
